Ana Portugal Melo

Ana Melo is a biologist capable of bridging the gap between science and management, with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and a Post-graduation in Management. She carried out research in Bioenergetics of plants, fungi and bacteria for almost 20 years, before embracing science management in 2012. She started as Director of Cooperation and Representation at the Tropical Research Institute in Portugal, and is currently the executive director of BioData.pt, the Portuguese research infrastructure for biological data and the national node of ELIXIR. She has experience in the management of international multidisciplinary scientific teams and is both a motivated and a motivational leader.
