Dr. Fotis Psomopoulos is a Principal Investigator at the Institute of Applied Biosciences (INAB - https://inab.certh.gr/) at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH - https://www.certh.gr/). His PhD is on Data Mining for Bioinformatics, awarded with a post-doctoral scholarship by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Research Committee in 2014. He is a strong advocate of Open Science, while his particular research focus lies at the intersection of Bioinformatics, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing, with over 80 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conferences. In this context he was selected as an EGI Champion on Bioinformatics in 2013, an RDA-EU Ambassador on Bioinformatics in 2019 and a member of the ELIXIR Training Platform Executive Committee in 2020. Additionally, he is co-leading two ELIXIR Tasks, aimed at Software Best Practices (including adaptation of the FAIR Principles, Software Management Plans, etc) as well as identifying current gaps in training for Life Science researchers in Europe.
