Co-creating a sustainable EOSC: Outcomes from the EOSC Consultation Day
The EOSC Consultation Day took place in May and was co-located with the EOSC-Hub Week 2020. The online event attracted 600 participants from around Europe tuning in and joining in on the interactive discussions held in the various break-out sessions.
The event was an opportunity for community engagement on the work of the EOSC Executive Board and its Working Groups. Sessions concentrated around the strategic challenges and priorities tackled by them. The event was vital for validation and feedback on currrent outputs and to charting a course for the future with input from the event vital for the subsequently published EOSC Work Plan 2020.
The report covers each of the main sessions at the event including a focus on the future as the EOSC interim governance comes to an end at the end of 2020 and the EOSC Association is established. This landmark moment coincides with the beginning of the Horizon Europe programme which will be key in the next implementation phase of the EOSC. Indeed, discussion on the EOSC partnership proposal which brings the EOSC governance towards a co-programmed partnership under Horizon Europe was discussed. Similarly, much discussion centred around defining what the Minimal Viable EOSC will be and the key elements that will make up the EOSC-Core.
Interim outputs from the EB and WGs were discussed such as the Tinman paper on EOSC Sustainability which outlines plans for the EOSC Association, the EOSC Landscape report, Initial Rules of Participation and Persistent Identifier Policy.
