EOSC Podcast Special: Making Open Science FAIR For Researchers
The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) looks to accelerate the deployment and consolidation of an open, trusted, virtual, federated environment in Europe to store, share and re-use research data across borders and scientific disciplines and provide access to a rich array of related services. It will bring together institutional, national and European initiatives and relevant stakeholders in order to develop together a science commons where data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable (FAIR) and where research-enabling and other services are made available throughout Europe. EOSC will enhance the possibilities for researchers to find, share and reuse publications, data, and software in Europe, facilitating new insights and innovations, higher research productivity, and improved reproducibility in science.
EOSCsecretariat.eu is launching a series of podcasts, focusing on different topics surrounding EOSC. The first episode featured EOSC FAIR Working Group Chair, Sarah Jones, discussing Open Science, FAIR Data, and how and when researchers should be engaged. The conversation is fascinating as she pulls back the curtain on what EOSC is looking to achieve, explaining what Open Science and FAIR Data mean. The FAIR WG Chair speaks about what the challenges are facing the implementation of these principles in the European research context, and lastly expresses how EOSC can engage with researchers to best implement the EOSC federated environment.
