RAISE Science Webinar: a transparent way of sharing and processing data

  • By Athina Papadopoulou

The RAISE project is organizing a webinar entitled “RAISE Science Webinar: a transparent way of sharing and processing data” that will be held on July 13, 2023, at 11:00 am CET.

This online event will introduce stakeholders an initial mock-up of RAISE’s unique approach that brings the processing algorithm (small in size) directly to the dataset (large in size), instead of requiring the dataset to be downloaded to the computer where the algorithm is located. An initial demonstration using wireframes will be done. The current mock-up is an interactive version that demonstrates the basic functionalities of the Research Analysis Identifier (RAI) System. The navigation through basic features will help the participants understand better the system and, also, provide valuable insights for the improvement of user experience.

The goal of this webinar is to showcase the value of not only accessing data, but also processing it conveniently.

In brief, RAISE minimizes the...

BioDT Webinar on 8 June 2023: Advancing biodiversity research with the BioDT framework

  • By Rita Giuffrida

Understanding the forces that shape biodiversity is crucial for the rational management of natural resources and aligning with the objectives set by the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, which aims to restore biodiversity in Europe. Researchers face the challenging task of predicting global biodiversity dynamics and comprehending how species interact with their environment and each other. These dynamics are complex, requiring innovative approaches that combine data, models, and interaction processes to provide accurate predictions and sustainable solutions for managing Earth's biodiversity and ecosystems.

To address this challenge, the primary objective of BioDT is to develop a prototype of the Biodiversity Digital Twin, a cutting-edge tool that accurately models and quantifies species interactions with their environment. By harnessing existing technologies and leveraging data from relevant research infrastructures in innovative ways, BioDT aims to provide advanced modeling, simulation, and prediction capabilities.

The BioDT project team will be hosting a one-hour webinar to provide an...

Event | Science Mesh - Unlocking Open Science and Collaborative Research Landscape

  • By Rita Meneses

The CS3MESH4EOSC final event, taking place on 22 June 2023, at the EGI Conference in Poznan (Poland), will showcase how the Science Mesh is contributing to an easier and more robust open science across Europe, thanks to novel approaches for data sharing and synchronisation. The event will have a hybrid format (Poznan and online).

The Science Mesh is a federation of distributed data storage and sharing services, known as Enterprise File Sync and Share (EFSS) services, where cloud platforms from different providers are interconnected. Science Mesh users can easily share and manage data through the familiar interfaces of their institutional services and collaborate with colleagues from other organisations. The Science Mesh services are not specific to any particular research discipline, since it addresses the needs of a wide array of users interested in scientific collaboration. It can be used either by user communities within existing Research infrastructures such...
